SEPECAT Jaguar – Jet Trainer turned Nuclear Attacker | Planehistoria
The SEPECAT Jaguar was originally designed as a jet trainer aircraft for the British and French air forces. However, it quickly proved to be an exceptional multirole aircraft and was adapted to become an attack aircraft. The SEPECAT Jaguar was the first aircraft equipped with both air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons, and could even be fitted with a nuclear bomb. The aircraft was capable of carrying up to four nuclear weapons and had the range to deliver them to targets up to 1,500 miles away. Its combination of speed, agility, and multirole capability made it an ideal nuclear attacker. The SEPECAT Jaguar has been in service with the British, French, and Indian air forces for over 40 years, and is still in active use with some air forces. The aircraft is a testament to the versatility of jet trainer designs and the capabilities of multirole aircraft.
